Carlos Arroyo Basketball Camp

Puerto Rican Basketball Star Carlos Arroyo will host his fifth basketball camp this summer at Coliseito Pedrín Zorrilla from July 7-11. At Carlos Arroyo’s Basketball Camp 330 kids, aged 7-16, will have the chance to learn the valuable skills that have helped propel Carlos to the dizzy heights his career has reached. Carlos, who plays as guard for Orlando Magic, will be joined by a team of 12 professional coaches with the aim of combining the development of basketball techniques with the values of teamwork. The 28-year-old Carlos, who, in April, became the first Puerto Rican to score 3000 points in the NBA, will be setting high standards for his camp members, making sure that the experience is a memorable one. Carlos will be establishing perseverance and the strength to follow a dream as some of the main themes of the camp. “I am really looking forward to the fifth edition of the Carlos Arroyo Basketball Camp,” said Carlos. “I spend a great time with the kids every summer and to be able to teach them not only the techniques of basketball, but also the dedication and effort that they need to follow in order to reach their goals, no matter what they are, is a very gratifying experience.” The Magic enjoyed a hugely successful 2007-08 season, being crowned champions of the South Eastern Division of the Eastern Conference, just the third time in the franchise history (since 1989) that a team has accomplished this, and going on to reach the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 1996. Carlos Arroyo was traded to Orlando Magic in February 2006, creating an impact in the Hispanic community and breaking ticket and merchandise sales records for the Orlando Magic. In 2003 he helped lead team Puerto Rico to the Bronze medal in the Olympic qualifying tournament and the following year he led his team to a sixth place finish in the Athens Olympics.
